ProseMap

AI assistant connection

Use ProseMap from an AI assistant

ProseMap has a connector that speaks the Model Context Protocol (MCP). An assistant connected to it can estimate, run and read ProseMap analyses on your account, within a spending limit you set. It uses the same account, saved results, credit and rules as the web app.

Set it up

  1. Sign in to the app, open Account, and under Connect an AI assistant create a connection. Give it a name and a monthly spending limit.
  2. Copy the token. It is shown once.
  3. Add ProseMap to your assistant as a remote MCP server (HTTP transport):
    Server URLhttps://www.prosemap.io/api/mcp
    HeaderAuthorization: Bearer <your token>

If your assistant only accepts a URL and cannot send a header, use https://www.prosemap.io/api/mcp/<your token> instead. Treat that URL as a password.

Claude Code

ProseMap has been verified end to end with Claude Code. Add it with:

claude mcp add --transport http prosemap https://www.prosemap.io/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer <your token>"

Other assistants that support remote MCP servers over HTTP with a bearer token should work the same way. They are not listed here until the full journey has been tested with each.

What the assistant can do

Improving a draft toward a target score

An assistant can work in rounds. Each round is one analysis; everything else in it costs nothing.

  1. estimate_analysis: see the price. Agree with the assistant what you authorise, how many rounds, and what score you are aiming for.
  2. submit_analysis, then get_analysis until it is complete.
  3. If the overall score meets your target, or no hotspots are left, stop.
  4. get_guidance: the assistant revises the draft exactly as the comments say, and nothing else.
  5. submit_analysis again with the revised text and revision_of set to the previous id. The result now reports the change from the previous round.
  6. Back to step 3.

Three rounds is usually enough. A score of 75 or more is in the Strong band; most good prose sits between 70 and 85, and a higher number is not always better writing. The connector tells the assistant to stop when a round does not raise the score, and the same instructions are sent to the assistant when it connects.

A request you can paste: "Analyse this draft with ProseMap. Revise it from the guidance and re-analyse until the overall score reaches 80, for at most three rounds and $3 in total. Show me the score after each round and do not change sentences the guidance did not flag."

Limits and safeguards

ProseMap's scores and explanations are produced by AI models. They can be wrong, incomplete or misleading, and they are one reader's judgment rather than an objective measure of writing quality. Check anything that matters independently.
